Will transmission fluid hurt your engine?
The transmission fluid will not be providing exactly what the engine needs in order to be properly lubricated and you could be causing your engine damage by continuing to run it with the tranny fluid in there. As you’ve suggested, there is a real chance of blowing out seals due to having too much fluid in the engine.
Can transmission fluid clean fuel injectors?
ATF is not to be used with HEIU injectors, it can trash a motor, ecpecially at 37 to 1 ratio. We used to mix only 1 quart to 100 gallons in the old diesels, and that was plenty. I would use a good safe injector cleaner like Lucas, stanadyne, pwer service etc.
What happens if you put transmission fluid in your engine?
In most cases, adding ATF to motor oil reduces cleaning power. Instead, ATFs have elevated levels of friction modifiers and other additives that help protect gears and clutches. Second, ATF can disrupt the engine oil formulation and reduce its effectiveness.
Can you use transmission fluid for fuel stabilizer?
it will not hurt the engine and in most cases will help it….. it helps clean and lubricate the pump and injectors and people have been using it for years and it is still a very common additive.
Is automatic transmission fluid the same as engine oil?
A couple of differences are the following: Motor oil is designed to deal with the products of combustion, whereas automatic transmission fluid (ATF) does not see contaminants from fuel burning. … Transmission fluid is also used by your steering system to keep its parts moving smoothly.
What does transmission fluid do in a gas tank?
ATF is loaded with detergent, so the idea was to boost the existing detergents in your gas tank to clean out deposits and carbon (from using cheapie gas).
What can I use transmission fluid for?
Automatic transmission fluid meets the requirements of automatic transmissions and helps with various functions, including:
- Gear lubrication.
- Torque converter operation.
- Valve body operation.
- Clutch friction operation.
- Brake band friction.
- Transmission cooling.
Why You Should Never flush your transmission fluid?
Transmission fluid is highly detergent which can wash the varnish off clutches, causing it to slip. Pressure flushing can cause aging seals to start leaking. When it leaks more than a quart it could burn up the unit.
What does sugar do to a gas tank?
Like any sediment, sugar can clog the fuel injectors or the fuel filter if there’s too much of it. This might make it necessary to replace the fuel filter or even empty out the gas tank. This means that it’s a nasty trick that will end up costing you money, but nowhere near the amount of complete engine destruction.
Is transmission fluid good for diesel fuel?
Yes, that’s right, used automatic transmission fluid. Richard Snyder has been running ATF as his primary fuel in his ’02 7.3L Power Stroke for nearly two years now. When we caught up with him, he reported that the 90% ATF, 10% diesel mixture he’s been burning has caused no problems to date.
Can I put transmission fluid in my diesel fuel tank?

Today you have to be sure the fluid is not red in color. If you put red tranny fluid in your fuel, you can be accused of running off-road diesel on the highway. Also, be sure you only put in half a quart if you fuel up, and are only half empty.
